Working with Ink & Olive Social Media Management

Why I Work with Multiple Industries

I see it all the time- business coaches and seasoned entrepreneurs recommending that new business owners niche down. That advice makes sense. You want to know who to create content for and market to. By trying to serve everyone, you’ll serve no one so figure out who you want to work with and market yourself to that group. While finding your niche typically means finding the industry or demographic you want to cater to, my niche is hardworking, focused, relatable small business owners. I don’t work with a specific industry. I work so closely with my social media management clients that I prioritize our compatibility over their industry.

It’s All About the People

I work super closely with my social media management clients. You’re the expert. I’m the idea person, the project manager, and your business coach who makes sure the work gets done while you provide the bulk of the industry expertise.

Content creation and social media management are two distinct responsibilities. While I copy-write, create posts, and source third party content for my clients, most of the information and visual assets have to come from my point of contact. For example, if you’re a real estate agent, you’re licensed. You know what listings are coming soon, which homes have sold, and what the market is doing. You’re on site at new construction, you’re at the closing table with clients, and you’re touring neighborhoods. Therefore the latest data, transaction information, and on-site photos and video have to come from you.

So what do I do? I create monthly social media calendars, scheduling in my clients’ transactions and events as well as additional posts highlighting our preferred vendors, market updates, homeowner tips, and more.

Through weekly calls or emails, updates are relayed and information is shared. I’m essentially a project manager who specializes in social media. 😊 I request information from my point of contact and they respond with updates and visual assets. I then copy edit social media posts, optimizing for each platform and schedule posts for ideal times throughout the week.

As you can see, I’m in close contact with the businesses I work with. Rather than limiting myself to a specific industry, I work with people I feel a rapport with. I feel privileged to love the businesses and people I work with and represent on their social channels.

Avoid Competing with Myself

I take my clients’ success personally. I’m proud of my knowledge and strategies and when the businesses I work with hit a social media milestone, make a sale, or get a new client, I do a little happy dance.

When I have a brilliant new campaign idea or want to create a specific post, I don’t want to have to pick and choose which clients to follow through on those ideas with. Because I work with businesses across multiple industries, I have the opportunity to be creative and pursue all of my lightbulb ideas without competing against myself.

For example, if I only worked with bakeries and wanted to put together a campaign around dietary restrictions, I would feel conflicted as to which of my partners to follow through on the idea with. While dietary restrictions are a common topic in the food and beverage industry, I do not create the same posts or employ the same campaign strategies for more than one client.

Working with multiple industries allows me to be more creative and provide the most original content for my clients.

With that said, I do know a lot of business owners in the real estate industry. My background as the Director of Social Media for a real estate brokerage introduced me to several individuals and teams that I still keep in touch with and some who I work with. Luckily, so many topics can be related back to real estate and each team has their own transaction information, specialties, and vendor relationships to share.

The Proof is in the Pudding Numbers

Businesses within any industry can see growth through original content, consistency, and the desire to provide value to their sphere. Not just businesses that are deemed “Instagram worthy”.

If you want help creating content, posting to social media, and growing your email list, I’d love to talk. You can learn more about me here or by following me on Instagram. Think we’re the perfect match? Let’s get started
